The Plant Protection, Genetics & Biotechnology Group conducts innovative plant-based research, integrating both, applied and fundamental aspects, and utilising new and emerging technologies.

Our research is rooted in genomics and closely intertwined with biotechnology. There will be a focus on integrated genetic studies of important Mediterranean forest and agricultural species, such as the cork oak, grapevine, olive, carob and almond trees, strawberry, and cardoon.

The overarching objective is to unravel the mechanisms governing growth, development, and responses of plants to both abiotic and biotic stress.
