Isabel Velada (IV) is graduated in Biology by University of Évora (2000) and obtained the PhD in Biology at University of Aveiro (2010), in the field of developmental biology. After her PhD, she integrated the Functional Genomics Lab’s team, at the Histocompatibility Center (Coimbra), where she deepened her knowledge on molecular biology and gene expression analyses, and where she collaborated in several research projects in the biomedical sciences field. From 2013 on, she collaborated with various research projects under the scope of plant sciences, namely, investigating for single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with a better plant adaptability to environmental conditions, studying the molecular mechanisms underlying plant stress responses, and the molecular mechanisms involved in plant growth and development (ex: germination and root growth). Recently, IV collaborates with MED, as superior technician, at the Unit of Advanced Microscopy, while she also participates in research projects related to plant protection. IV gives support on histological protocols, cryosectioning, laser microdissection, fluorescence microscopy and confocal microscopy.
