About
PhD student in Biochemistry at the University of Évora - “Studying food acceptance: salivary biochemical responses to pre-consummatory food stimuli and their relationship with oral food perception” (PhD studentships funded by FCT - reference number: 2021.06485.BD). Academic background in Biochemistry with a strong interest in study biological mechanisms underlying eating behaviour, regulation of food intake, food preferences and choices. Research experiences focused on salivary proteomics, specifically studying salivary protein profile resulting from pathological (e.g., obesity, weight-loss) and nutritional (e.g., different food items) conditions. Research assistant (32 months; from 2017 to 2020) in a project aiming to promote the Mediterranean diet and food sector, which gave me an insight regarding translating basic research and knowledge into the market environment. Master’s dissertation defended in January 2014, “Avaliação das alterações na composição e função proteica da saliva induzidas por perda de peso (Evaluation of changes in saliva protein composition and function induced by weight loss)”. One year of internship (2010-2011), during bachelor’s degree, studying differences in salivary proteome of morbidly obese subjects.
