Dr. Patricia Lourenço (PhD) is currently the Project and Innovation Manager at AgroInsider Lda. (co2.agroinsider.com; forest.agroinsider.com; agroinsider.com) and an integrated member of the MED – Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment, and Development at the University of Évora, Portugal. She holds a degree in Biology, a Master's in Biology and Marine Resources Management, a PhD in Applied and Environmental Sciences, and a Postgraduate degree in Project Management.
As a Remote Sensing expert, Dr. Lourenço has extensive experience working on various international and national projects using remote sensing techniques, GIS, data modeling, and governance system design. Her work focuses on supporting cost-effective decision-making in land and sea management, as well as environmental planning for diverse ecosystem types and services. These include Mediterranean semi-arid and arid regions (Spain, Morocco, Greece, Portugal, Tunisia, Turkey, Jordan, Italy), humid subtropical environments of small oceanic islands (Azores), subtropical regions (Florida, US), tropical ecosystems (Guinea-Bissau, Indonesia, Colombia), temperate zones (The Netherlands, Germany), and continental environments (Canada, Ukraine).
Currently, Dr. Lourenço is working on carbon farming and ecosystem services, combining Earth Observation tools with ground truth data to assess carbon stock, footprint, and biodiversity across agricultural, pasture, agroforestry, and forestry systems.
