About

Maria Doroteia Campos (MDC) is graduated in Agricultural Engineering (scientific-technological branch) at the University of Évora in 1998, completed her master’s degree in Sustainable Agriculture and Horticulture at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, University of Lisbon, in 2003, and in 2016 she obtained the PhD in Agricultural Sciences, specialization in Biotechnology, at the University of Évora.

MDC is an assistant professor in the Department of Plant Science at the University of Évora  and a researcher in the MED's Plant Protection, Genetics and Biotechnology group. 

Her professional career is mainly dedicated to research, mainly in the areas of plant biotechnology and plant breeding. In 2017, MDC started research work at the Laboratory of Mycology and Virology (MED/UE), in the area of phytopathology, where she has been participating in several research lines, namely in the development of molecular tools for the diagnosis of pathogens in relevant regional crops. Currently, the research interests of MDC also include the identification of resistance genes of different cultures to different situations of biotic stress.

In the context of research supervision, MDC has been advising post-doctoral, PhD, master's and bachelor’s students, in addition to mentoring students from different study cycles.Her teaching activity began at the University of Évora in the academic year 2019-2021 with collaborations in several curricular units in the scientific area of ​​agronomy.
