Maria Cristina Queiroga (DVM, PhD) is professor of Microbiology and Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Évora and researcher at MED - Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development, Évora, Portugal. She graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Lisbon and received her PhD in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Évora. She began her professional career in Transkei, South Africa. She was a researcher at the National Veterinary Research Laboratory-Laboratory of Évora, Portugal. She is accredited as Coordinating Researcher for Animal Experimentation (FELASA Category C). She is Associate Professor, President of the Pedagogical Council of the School of Science and Technology, Adjunct of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Responsible for the Microbiology Laboratory of the MED-Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development. She works in the area(s) of Agricultural Sciences with an emphasis on Veterinary Sciences. Among other studies on bacterial virulence factors, she has developed research on antibacterial substances for application in the control of infectious diseases in animals.
