The kick-off meeting of the Edu_Saliva project (Inclusive Digital Material on Saliva Science for the Curricula of European Higher Education Institutions) took place on 18th and 19th December 2024. This project, approved under the Erasmus + KA220-HED – Cooperation partnerships in higher education (KA220-HED) calls, aims to create open access educational material, in different languages, about saliva as a non-invasive biological sample. This material aims to promote the inclusion of this topic in the curriculum of different syllabus, in European higher education institutions, thus bridging a gap between the growing interest in the use of non-invasive biological sources and the current curricula.

The University of Murcia is leading the consortium, which includes the University of Évora (through MED researchers), Dublin City University, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Centro Integrado de Formacion Profesional Politecnico de Murcia and ISEAS (International Society for Education in Animal Science). The MED researchers taking part in this project are Elsa Lamy, Maria Perez-Jimenez and Fernando Capela e Silva, and the team was represented at this meeting by Elsa Lamy and Maria Perez-Jimenez.
