FONCIMED: a land research and exchange network in the Mediterranean
FONCIMED
Description
The FONCIMED network stems from a strong will of Mediterranean researchers and practitioners working on the land question or being confronted with this question within the framework of their activities. Without particular institutionalization, it is jointly coordinated by researchers from INRAE-ACT (SAD). This network pursues three main objectives: (1) To be a place for exchanging knowledge on the themes of land governance and the use of natural resources; (2) To be a way of contextualizing the disciplinary approaches or results of the members of the network; (3)To be a place for monitoring emerging social or institutional developments in the territories and capable of influencing their dynamics in the medium term. The FONCIMED network integrates a wide variety of institutions from countries around the Mediterranean, such as Portugal, Albania, Algeria, Spain, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Morocco, Romania, Tunisia, and Turkey. It is a place to scientifically enhance this diversity, without a priori constraints or limits. At the thematic level, it focuses its analysis on land governance and the uses of natural resources at diversified scales of analysis: i.e. the study of the uses of soil and water, as well as the management institutional of these uses, with regard to the changes induced on natural resources (taken in the broad sense).
