Seminar: Agrivoltaics Possibility of application in Alentejo

With the increasing energy demand and the need to expand solar energy production, it is essential to find solutions to harmonise the multiple functions of the territory. A proper planning should be able to minimise landscape transformation and prevent conflicts between energy production and other uses, namely agriculture. Agrivoltaic systems emerged as a powerful solution with the capability to comply with different stakeholders’ interests and, if well-conceived, can contribute to the enhancement of ecosystem services, while developing the local rural systems and making them more diverse and resilient.

Next Monday, 3rd February, a seminar will be held on the implementation of agrivoltaic systems in the Alentejo. The event will take place in the conference room of the Mitra Campus (Edifício dos Regentes Agrícolas), Universidade de Évora, starting at 9:30am (online participation possible). Prof. Paolo Picchi (University of Florence) will give a presentation on his experience in landscape integration of agrivoltaic systems and farmers’ interest in this solution.
