CI Montado Dehesa Project – Open Day 2025 with Celeste Santos e Silva – Cork Oak Planting and Protection

On 27 February 2025, a field day was held with Celeste Santos e Silva, MED researcher and professor in the Biology Department at the University of Évora, as part of the 2025 Open Day promoted by the CI Montado Dehesa project, with 22 participants ranging from farmers to researchers.

The Open Day was an opportunity to present the objectives of the CI Montado Dehesa project, namely the possibility of funding investments in the Montado with the aim of improving its ecological status and the creation of a learning space on the practices implemented in a space called the Monfurado Learning Territory.

On the field day there was a demonstration of planting and placing protectors on cork oaks, which was accompanied by a presentation by Professor Celeste Santos e Silva on what mycorrhizae are and their importance.

The participants showed interest in learning more about fungi and mycorrhizae.
