GI-SMART project kick-off meeting

The kick-off meeting of the GI-SMART (Geographical Indication’s contribution to Smart Territorial Development and Sustainability: Insights for GIs producers, policy makers, consumers and local communities) project took place in Paris (France), on the 29th and October 30th.

The University of Évora, through MED, is part of the consortium for this project financed by the Horizonte-CL6-2023-Communities-01 Program. It aims to identify and analyze the new social challenges faced by GIs, developing an innovative quantitative methodology for assessing sustainability, mapping good practices and valuing the positive results of GIs at EU level, improving consumer perception to achieve a sustainable GI, exploring and comparing GI policies in the EU and associated countries.

The MED research team led by researcher Mª Raquel Lucas participates in all research focuses and in all GI sectors and productions in the 19 EU and associated countries.
